Day of feeling - Congress
Congress as apotheosis of year-long programme
High sensitivity, it’s a topic that is alive and well. In late 2018, the ‘High Sensitivity (h)recognised’ campaign kicked off, followed by a year-long series of lectures, a press event at the 2018 Book Fair and, as the apotheosis, a one-day conference called Day of Feeling in October 2019. Dazzle Events provided consultant support for the campaign for the third year in a row and also took on a coordinating role for the first time this year.
Close cooperation with internal working group
A year of lectures and communications preceded the long-awaited one-day conference: Day of Feeling. Dazzle Events took charge of the campaign’s project management, set out the outlines of the communication plan and monitored its implementation on a monthly basis. It became a close collaboration with the internal working group of asbl HSP Flanders and Te Gek?! “It was great to be able to call on Dazzle Events’ assertiveness and organisational skills again. During the event, small and big problems were solved behind the scenes without the visitors noticing anything. The many compliments from visitors, exhibitors, speakers and volunteers about the organisation of the event speak for themselves!” looks back with satisfaction Ilse Van den Daele, chairwoman of HSP Vlaanderen vzw.
Big impact with limited input
The Day of Feeling included panel discussions, a keynote, a video conference with US professor Elaine Aron, a networking event and a professional session on high sensitivity. As icing on the cake, Tom Helsen and Buurman performed the theme song ‘Nothing is what it seems’ live. As many as four hundred guests attended the event in Ghent.
The initiative comes from a non-profit organisation, which meant that it relied mainly on a lot of volunteers and the organisation’s staff. This, like the tight deadline, brought the necessary challenges for Dazzle Events to document everything and brief everyone properly. “Thanks to our know-how and experience in project management, we managed to use every employee or volunteer as efficiently as possible for this campaign and create a great impact.” Similarly, moderator Sjoukje Smedts testifies: “Moderating a panel discussion is always a bit exciting. Will you ask the right questions? How will the audience react? Because I could fully rely on the technical and practical support of Dazzle Events, I had to focus solely on my task: to steer the discussion in the right direction. Mission accomplished!”.
Moderator Jerko Bozikovic also looks back on the event with satisfaction. “Chapeau to HSP Flanders, Dazzle Events and the many volunteers. I was briefed well in advance each time, got all the support I needed and thoroughly enjoyed a well-oiled organisation. Bravo!” he says.
